Acknowledged by the Walloon Region, Saint-François in Soignies is a nursing and retirement home, in which 73 elderly people have found a second life.
The past and present seamlessly melt into each other here. A completely new wing has been recently added to the old convent (built between 1762 – 1766) of the Franciscan nuns. The old convent consists of a renaissance chapel and a corridor, of which the original atmosphere has been preserved. Haelvoet delivered furniture for the communal room and 65 bedrooms. On top of that, Haelvoet developed a bench blending harmoniously in the vaulting of the convent walls. Saint-François still houses a community of Franciscan nuns.
